22. Shaolin Internals – Float, Sink, Draw, Expel – My Journey EP22
The final episode from my exclusive interview with Master Yap Boh Heong demonstrating how the “internals” of Southern Shaolin and 5 Ancestors Fist (Chee Kim Thong lineage) are both practiced and applied.
The terms Fou 浮 (Float), Chum 沉 (Sink), Tum 吞 (Draw), and Tu 吐 (Expel) are commonly mentioned when discussing Southern Shaolin Kung-fu; however, it’s rare to find a practical demonstration of their usage. In this video, Master Yap explains that Float, Sink, Draw, and Expel are not only principles, but they are in fact four cardinal directions of Jin 勁 (refined force). And once a practitioner has developed the ability to bring the Jin to their hands, these four directions become a “quality of force” rather than physical movements.
For those interested in acquiring the skills demonstrated by Master Yap, I highly recommend the authentic Nei Gong methods of Southern Shaolin taught in the Yan Shou Gong online course created by Master Yap on this platform. Find out more here: Yan Shou Gong – The Art of Longevity (Sets 1-6)
Now that all of the clips from Master Yap’s zoom interview are uploaded, I will resume discussing my journey in future videos and begin addressing the numerous questions sent in from the viewers.
